About the Role

Key Responsibilities Payroll Delivery, Compliance & Governance
  • Deliver end-to-end payroll processing accurately and on time across fortnightly and monthly cycles
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, and company policies, with a proactive approach to regulatory change
  • Establish and maintain strong payroll controls, governance practices, and audit readiness
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, reconciliations, and reporting to support transparency and compliance assurance
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate payroll-related risks through improved controls and monitoring
Process Maturity & Continuous Improvement
  • Drive uplift in payroll maturity by embedding standardised, scalable, and documented processes
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements across systems, workflows, and controls
  • Develop and utilise metrics, reporting, and insights to enhance decision-making and performance visibility
  • Reduce reliance on manual or inconsistent practices by introducing structured, repeatable processes aligned to best practice
Change Management & Transformation
  • Lead and support payroll-related change initiatives, including system, process, and compliance changes
  • Influence and support stakeholders through change using structured approaches, clear communication, and impact awareness
  • Ensure change initiatives are effectively implemented, adopted, and sustained across the business
  • Champion a mindset of continuous improvement, accountability, and adaptability
Stakeholder Partnership & Advisory
  • Partner closely with leaders, People & Culture, Finance, and external providers to deliver trusted payroll expertise
  • Provide guidance on complex payroll matters, compliance risks, and process improvements
  • Build strong relationships to support consistency, accountability, and alignment across the business
About You
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior payroll role supporting a workforce of 300+ employees
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, awards, compliance frameworks, and governance requirements
  • Proven experience supporting audit, risk management, and compliance assurance processes
  • Exposure to Workers Compensation and injury management frameworks
  • Ability to drive process improvement and operational maturity within a payroll function
  • Experience contributing to or leading change initiatives in payroll or related functions
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and a risk-aware mindset
  •  Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively
  •  A proactive, resilient, and solutions-focused approach
