About the Role
TCWA’s newest workshop - Phil's Recon Shop is looking for an experienced Sandblaster to join our growing team. We are looking for someone who take’s pride in delivering high-quality surface preparation, has a strong commitment to safety, and enjoys working in a professional workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare metal surfaces by removing rust, paint, scale, dirt, and other contaminants using abrasive blasting equipment.
- Apply protective masking to areas that must remain free from blasting media.
- Inspect blasted components to ensure surfaces meet required cleanliness and anchor profile standards prior to coating or painting.
- Operate abrasive blasting equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with company procedures and industry standards.
- Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of blast pots, hoses, nozzles, blast cabinets, compressors, and associated equipment.
- Work closely with powder coaters, industrial painters, and quality assurance personnel to ensure components are prepared to specification.
- Clean blast booths and safely collect, dispose of, or recycle blasting media and hazardous waste in accordance with workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment while following all workplace health and safety procedures.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- A relevant trade qualification or industry experience in abrasive blasting, surface preparation, or a related field.
- Previous experience operating industrial sandblasting or abrasive blasting equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to carry out routine preventative maintenance on blasting equipment.
- Sound understanding of surface preparation standards and coating requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify minor surface defects and ensure a consistent finish.
- A strong commitment to workplace safety, including the safe handling of hazardous materials and effective dust control practices.
- A reliable work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
